Not to shoot you down or anything MFH, just trying to report bugs as they come to make this mod better. I'm having problems getting 100%s on the solos. The only way I could show you is through a video, so I made one: Solo Bug

My multiplier doesn't break, so I know I didn't miss a note, but it didn't give me 100%? (If it matters, I used the 2.7 to 2.8 manual update)

I spent a lot of time working on this issue, and it's a lot better than it was, but basically if your computer doesn't register the Guitar Solo start and stop events quickly enough then a note or two may be left out or included. It used to be much worse....

Just post which songs have problems with solo note counting so I have a list of songs to test and experiment with later when I try to improve this.

Ozzy, are you using one of my releases? Or did you try the manual patch? If it's the manual patch I can't help you, try one or both releases. DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS FROM THEIR DEFAULTS AND START WITH THE BLANK FRETSONFIRE.INI FILE.

Once it works with defaults, then change settings and see if one makes it crash and try to isolate it. Try to report why it happens, not just that you are having a problem.

I made those frets by using a screen shot of beta rockband.

So, that's why they look so similar. I probably used the same screenshot as you.

Hey MFH,why don't you make the hitflames as an animation like hitglow?
Sorry if I made grammar mistakes :) ...

Hopefully this was fixed but for some reason when I have a lot of necks and disable the neck select it takes forever to start up, but when I have neck select enabled it takes less time, when I have only 1 or 2 necks it doesn't take anytime at all but still! Disabling the neck select is supposed to decrease load time but for me it increases it. I guess I'll just stick with 1 neck. This has been happening to me ever since the neck select switch has been implemented.

Python and FoF

Spoiler:

blazingamer wrote:I still don't like you people that say Python is the reason why the game goes slowly. It's not python that makes the game slow, the only thing that is slower in python than c is the compile time and the variable type signing (since it's dynamic) but if you keep variables the same type the whole time then it won't go slower than c. The only reason why these C versions that people keep making are faster is because the code is seriously bare bones. If you look at all the different passes and modules that FoF has to go through compared to one of those games, in addition to the way math is handled, you'll see why FoFiX lags so much. The code is written from an excessively modular base that is poorly written for what it needs to do, it could be simpler and as a result faster. Not only that, but most of these C games are written in directX and are windows only, most graphics cards are optimized for directX over openGL, so of course it's going to run faster if it's directX, the only reason why FoF is openGL is because the developers wanted it to be cross platform.

So, before you start blaming python for the reason why FoF is slow look at the code yourself and see why. If it was written in C except everything was kept in tact the same way it is written in python, it will go just about as slow, maybe a just maybe little faster just because C can do math faster.

Because:

1) I don't want to.

2) I didn't originally make the hitglow animation.

3) I don't want to.

Blazingamer, no idea what to tell you. Disabling neck select always decreases my main menu loading time, even if I only have like 10 or 20 necks.

Thanks jnuz - linking to the above post in the first post.

Glad to hear Linux users can at least enjoy the Rock Band theme :)

edit: just realized jnuz isn't in the credits either... so tough to track credits!

Thanks MFH, I didn't even notice I wasn't in the credits :)

Edit: you may want to put me under "other" for the credits instead of coders, The only coding I've done is adjusting things to run properly under linux (writing a new executable script,) I'm not actually "coding" anything to do with the source though, just compiling the code into an executable. I've looked at the code for the tails, but I have no idea why it doesn't run correctly... But as a alternative you can delete the Tails directory which will revert to older tails.
